DOES WORKING WITH YOU MEAN THAT I HAVE TO LET MY CHILD “CRY IT OUT”?No, not at all. Sleep training doesn't mean to let your child cry it out alone in a dark room until they give up and fall asleep physically and emotionally exhausted. There is a wide range of methods available, from more gradual/ in room approaches to out of the room approaches where we can give your child some extra practicing space. Depending on your individual situation & progress, we can tailor the approach according to your & your child’s needs as we go!

SLEEP TRAINING VS. SLEEP SUPPORTWhat is known to most people as SLEEP TRAINING refers to the process of: looking into your child’s current main sleep associations aka what they are used to need, when it comes to going (back) to sleep talking about how settling (back) to sleep ideally would look like for you as the parents choosing an alternative settling approach, to encourage more independent sleeping skills and to reach your individual goals The holistic sleep support I offer here at Your Village takes into consideration: your current sleep situation (from timing, to sleep environment, sleep associations etc...) your child’s nutrition (whether they are breastfed, on formula, solids or mixed fed) your child’s individual temperament (is your child rather easy going or more sensitive?) your individual family situation & parenting style (no one size fits all)

HOW LONG DOES THE PROCESS USUALLY TAKE?This depends on a few factors, especially on the approach we will be choosing & your consistency , but on average 1- 2 weeks, with promising improvements within 2-5 days.

SHOULD EVERYONE USE A SLEEP CONSULTANT?The short answer: No. If you as the parents (not other parents, not your own parents and not anyone else who has an opinion) are happy and content with how sleep looks and feels like in your home, then no: don’t fix what is working for you & simply enjoy! If you feel though, that sleep (day or night) is a rather stressful & challenging time for you as the parent, your child and for your family as a whole, it might be time for change. While some families have the capacity to initiate & implement this change on their own, others feel more confident & empowered with some extra 1:1 support by their side.
